Working notes

Verified firsthand on the official Department of Fire Services page: 'The Board of Fire Prevention Regulations voted to approve the Amendments to 527 CMR 12.00 Massachusetts Electrical Code based on the 2023 edition of NFPA 70... effective as of February 17, 2023.' The same page carries a stale sentence calling the 2020 edition 'currently in effect' - superseded text on the page itself; do not cite it for the current edition. The page links the unofficial 2023 MEC amendments document (official version via the Secretary of State). License classes (Master, Journeyman, Systems Contractor, Systems Technician) are administered by the Examiners board; the applications FAQ is used as the classes URL. Electrical permits are issued locally by municipal Inspectors of Wires - no state permit regime was established, so the permit field is blank. FOLLOWUP 2 NOTE (E-DATA-FOLLOWUP 2, 2026-10-25): the E-DATA 2 edition conflict on this page is superseded by events, per E-DOC-HUNT 2's hunt-07 (files/journeyman/electrical/documents/hunt-07-ma-680-26-pool-grid-amendment.md), which read the promulgated MEC texts on third-party hosts (republications of the promulgated codes - the 2023 MEC PDF via a wsimg mirror of Boston JATC's site; the 2026 MEC PDF via Boston JATC; the Board's official 2026-MEC adoption document was not located): Massachusetts promulgated a 2026 Massachusetts Electrical Code (2026 MEC) incorporating the 2026 edition of NFPA 70, and by its Rule 7 all building permits granted subsequent to April 24, 2026 shall be in compliance with it. The 2026 MEC carries NO amendment to NEC 680.26 - the 2023 MEC's amendment limiting the 680.26(B)(2)(b) alternate equipotential-plane method to above-ground pools only is a 2023-cycle amendment that does not carry forward. Both the 2023 and 2026 MECs amend NEC 517.13 the same way: '517.13. Delete the Exception.' This DFS page was re-read firsthand in Followup 2 (2026-10-25): it still presents the 2023 MEC as current, still carries the stale 2020-edition sentence, and does not mention the 2026 MEC. The edition and effective-date fields above are therefore left on the officially page-verified 2023 MEC; the 2026 succession is recorded here with its republication basis disclosed, and promotion of the edition field awaits an official-host read of the 2026 MEC (mass.gov or the Massachusetts Register). Status stays verified on the 2023-MEC facts as verified.

Coded to schema v2 Option B at the 2026-10-27 wiring pass from the v1 row verbatim; migration settles no open facts.
