Working notes

Classes: Master Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, Residential Electrician, and Electrical Contractor (a contractor must have a Montana-licensed master electrician as its responsible party). Prior adoption: 2020 NEC, adopted 2022-06-10. The NFPA enforcement map (as of 2026-08-03) still showed Montana's 2023 update as 'projected 9/2026'; the DLI Current Codes page (official) states the 2023 edition effective September 26, 2026 and controls.
