Current active RISBC-5 filing verified on the official rules.sos.ri.gov regulation page: Regulation Status Active, Effective 12/01/2025, s.5.3 adopts NEC 2023 with Rhode Island amendments set out in the same regulation (amendments_url is the regulation itself). Older RISBC-5 filings adopting NEC 2020 and NEC 2017 are superseded - do not record them. Licensing regulation 260-RICR-30-15-7 s.7.4 ties the electricians' rules to the NEC edition adopted by the state building code authority, and its s.7.6 covers license types; DLT Professional Regulation administers the board and examinations. No state-issued electrical permit regime was established.
