State Mechanical Inspection has inspection authority over new and altered electrical installations: all commercial structures and dwellings of three-plex and above are subject to inspection; in the Municipality of Anchorage and the City of Fairbanks, local inspectors hold authority through memoranda of agreement (Labor Mechanical Inspection jurisdiction page, https://labor.alaska.gov/lss/mi_jurisdiction.htm).

STALE OFFICIAL PAGE FLAGGED: the Department of Labor Electrical Safety statutes-and-regulations compilation (dated May 2018, https://labor.alaska.gov/lss/forms/electrical-stats-regs.pdf, opened firsthand) still prints 8 AAC 70.025 as adopting the 2017 NEC. The current Alaska Administrative Code text (official akleg.gov code) adopts the 2020 NEC, with amendment history ending am 4/16/2022, Register 242 - the 2022 amendment date is recorded as the effective date. Secondary tables (IAEI) give 4/16/2020 for Alaska - same month/day, different year; the official register history wins and the conflict is flagged for QA rather than smoothed. AS 18.60.580 lets the Department adopt the most recent codes by regulation; AS 18.60.590 preserves municipal authority to set standards not less stringent than the state, and AS 18.60.640(b) describes the standards as the recommended minimum for all new structures. Electrical Administrator categories include Unlimited Commercial Wiring, Unlimited Line Work, Residential Wiring, Controls and Control Wiring, Inside Communication and Outside Communications. E-WIRING-READINESS (2026-10-26): completion attempted - amendments still unlocated, and a LINK-ROT finding: the recorded adoption_source_url (akleg.gov folio proxy) now returns "Error: No valid infobases found" - the folio infobase behind it appears retired; the 8 AAC 70.025 text it pointed to was verified firsthand in the earlier pass, but the URL itself no longer resolves and no replacement official AAC text URL was confirmed this pass. amendments_url stays blank.
