The red-flag page. What the court has shown wrong, what it holds back on safety grounds, and the field doctrine that has held up — read it before the rough-in, not after the callback.
Shown wrong · ED-16-R1
REFUTED — IDEC's no-SCCR position as applied to its own 30 A SSR (thread 2559098 post #11, the manufacturer's support/product management, quoted verbatim). Vendor lane +0 (a vendor on its own wares). Rebutted from the manufacturer's own UL listing (NMFT2.E194577, Motor Controllers), which classifies the device as a power controller; the landed listing anchor at ED-16 M4 converted the cap to a formal refutation on classification grounds. Two limits ride with it: the firsthand capture of the listing entry is still owed, and the thread's 5 kA SCCR figure does not appear in the public listing excerpt and is not listing-established. The vendor's general rule — true control-circuit devices need no SCCR — is NOT refuted; it is correct for its scope and is preserved inside ED-16 M4's statement.
Shown wrong · ED-18-M2-Limb-A
REFUTED — the 210.12(E) line-side reading (thread 2583767 post #5). Shop 2, points kept. Refuted in-thread by ED-18 M2 Limb B on the section's own text (the exception measures extension of the branch-circuit conductors, supply side included), and the refutation was accepted by its own proponent on rereading (post #7). Capped below Limb B (Shop 3). What survives, at its true weight: the poster's report that an AHJ permitted the practice in his case — a reported local practice, a fact about one AHJ's counter, not a reading of the section.
Shown wrong · ED-9-R1
REFUTED — the Div 2 “2-inch rule” (thread 25474 post #5). Shop 2, points kept. Refuted in-thread by ED-9 M5's correction: the 2-inch rule is a Division 1 sealing rule (501.15(A)(2)), not a Division 2 box rule — the rule's own location refutes it, and the corrected poster accepted the correction in-thread. Capped below the correction.
Retired · ED-9-R2
RETIRED to permanent relay status — the Crouse-Hinds wire-nut position (ED-9 M6). A manufacturer's statement about its own field, quoted second-hand by a poster: vendor lane +0, never anchored. The document hunt read Eaton's own Code Digest substantially in search of the position; “wire nut” appears nowhere in it. No further hunts run unless Crouse-Hinds publishes the position. Filed as the position ED-9 M4's practitioners independently reach.
